This alphabet is about 160 years old. It uses encouraging Bible verses which have only short words in them. The verses at the top are in current English, and the original verses shown below are from the King James Bible.

Alphabet of Texts in Short Words

A new heart will I give you. -

Be thou in the fear of the Lord all the day long. -

Choose you this day whom ye will serve.--Josh. 24:15.

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.--James 4:7.

Eat such things as are set before you.--Luke10:8.

Fools make a mock at sin.--Prov. 14:9.

Great peace have they which love thy law.--    Psa. 119:165.

Hide not thy face from me, lest I be like un-tothem that go down into the pit.--Psalm143:7.
