Sight Words
We need a few more sight words that aren't part of the -ap, -ip, -ack family.

  • These are some words we use all the time.
  • Try to recognize them by sight for now.
  • You can also try to sound them out.
  • But if you have trouble, I'll help you with these words!
  • We'll learn their families later.
  • Sight words will be printed in gray at first when they are used.

The first word connects all sorts of words together:

of

as in "flock of birds" or "God of wonders."

The next word shows two things are next to each other:

by

as in "The cab is by the big rig."

The word:

do

is related to the word 'did' that we have seen already, as in: "Do you like figs?" "Yes, I did like them when I tried them."

The word:

but

is useful when you want to say, "I like apples, but I like figs better."

The next word you need to use when your parents ask you to do a chore:

yes

("Yes ma'am" or "Yes sir"!)

The next word is similar to 'not':

no

And one more word just for fun!

play
