We need a few more sight words that aren't part of the -it family.
- Recognize them by sight for now, without sounding
the words out.
- These are some words we use all the time.
- We'll learn their families later!
- Sight words will be printed in gray at first when they
are used.
The first new sight word looks as if it is almost a member of the -it family.
But that final 'th' is really a digraph and makes 1 sound. See, it
is underlined to remind you that it makes the /th/ sound.
with
This is pronounced 'with', and it means
that two things are together, like, "I am with you."
Jesus told us that just before he went up to heaven! He said,
"Remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age" (Matthew
28.20) -- and that includes today, He's here with us right
here, right now!
The next word is 'not':
not
and you know what that means--"That is not a dog, it's a cat!"
Another sight word is 'in':
in
which tells us one thing is "in"--or inside of--another thing.
The next word:
did
tells us that something did or did not happen.
And this word is fun to play with:
ball
